EYE MITRA
Eye Mitra is an innovative program, launched in 2013, to provide access to basic vision care for the 550 million Indian people who suffer from Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE). The program addresses unmet needs for the vision care by training rural youth & helps them to set up their own micro enterprise. which allows them to do vision screenings events & dispense spectacles in nearby areas.
Watch the story of Satyapal Kushwah an eye mitra and find out how he is serving the community in a sustainable way. There are over 3,000 such eye mitra who are working on providing basic vision care solutions in their local areas.
VISION AMBASSADOR
Nearly 70% of the country's population lives in over 6 lakh villages. These villages suffer from a drastic lack of various products and services, including vision care. Creating easy access in these areas is therefore one of the major challenges.
The Vision Ambassador program addresses these challenges by providing access to basic vision care in rural areas where optical outlets simply don’t exist. One major objective of this initiative is to create awareness about good vision and to bring readymade spectacles & sunglasses to people’s doorstep in remote villages. Vision Ambassadors connect with already existing channels of non-optical outlets, small entrepreneurs and other local retailers.
MOBILE REFRACTION VAN
A specially fabricated van travels to rural areas to provide 360 degree eye care services. Each van is equipped with optical and lens-edging equipments to provide comprehensive eye care services right on the spot. Through these vans people get access to world class services from renowned eye hospitals across India.
